Kung Fu Wushu Victoria Inc. is recognised by the Victorian State Government as the official representative association for Chinese martial arts (Kung Fu, Wushu, Tai Chi) in Victoria. Kung Fu Wushu VIC is also the VIC state representative for Kung Fu Wushu Australia (KWA). KWA is officially recognised by the Australian Sports Commission as the national governing body for Kung Fu / Wushu in Australia.
"Kung Fu", which translates literally as "Hard Work" is the popular term in Southern China and the western world that refers to the Chinese Martial Arts. Kung Fu was first introduced to the world by Bruce Lee and then further popularised by the the TV series 'Kung Fu' starring David Carradine. Kung Fu is the most common title given to Chinese Martial Arts around the world but is now used more often to relate to the traditional style of the Chinese Martial Arts than it is to relate to competitive style "Wushu".

Tai Chi is well known as one of the slow motion routines that groups of people practice every morning in hundreds of parks across China and, recently, other parts of the world.

Sanda (also known as Sanshou) is a modern hand to hand competitive combative sport characterised by quick and powerful punches, kicks and most notably, throws. Sanda utilises gloves amongst other protective gear and bouts are undertaken on a raised platform called a lei tai.
